Maple sugaring season is a sweet time to be in St. Johnsbury, the Maple Center of the World. As part of this year's World Maple Festival, we've challenged our local restaurants and food vendors to highlight Vermont maple products on their menus for the month of March. St. Johnsbury Distillery - Vermont maple is always on the menu, with three products featuring the sweet stuff created with Big Buck Maple (802-684-3668, Danville, Vermont) grade A Vermont maple syrup: Vermont Vodka is 100% Vermont maple syrup, fermented and distilled four times to create a clear spirit, and Dunc's Maple Rum and Dunc's Dark Maple Rum present slightly different profiles. Whirligig Brewing will release a Maple Stout the weekend of March 31st made with syrup from Chandler Hill Farm (Peacham, Vermont) and utilizing a barrel used to age St. Johnsbury Distillery's Maple Rum. Boule - St. Johnsbury's newest bakery is bringing a collaborative item to their menu for the month, with maple bourbon eclairs using St. Johnsbury Distillery Maple Rum. Plus, they can add maple to any espresso drink you like. Open Wednesday through Sunday 7am - 5pm. Anthony's Diner has all of the classic diner breakfast items that you can dream of, designed to be slathered in syrup from local producer Goodwin Family Maple (St. Johnsbury, Vermont). Natural Provisions will be featuring multiple maple products in their deli section all month, including Maple Caramelized Kale Salad, Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts, Maple Sugar Cookies, and Maple Granola Bars. All of the delicious maple used for these goodies is supplied by Windrift Tree Farm (St. Johnsbury, Vermont), whose products are also for sale in the market. Open Monday through Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm. Sweet Seasons Farm & Artisan Confections has delicious year-round maple treats, with some particularly featured this season, including, Maple Caramel Truffles, Maple Thin Snap Toffee, Salted Maple Peanut Patties, and St. Johnsbury Distillery Maple Rum Chocolate Truffles. Locally Social can add real maple from the local Bennett Family Farm Stand to make any beverage a celebration of the season. Oh, and have you tried their maple pecan croissants? Open weekdays 6:30am - 4pm and Saturday 6:30am - 1pm. St. Johnsbury Winter Farmers Market - Winter market vendors featuring items that use Vermont maple include maple kettle corn at Kingdom Kettle Corn; maple baked goods at Twin Pine Farm; and, maple syrups and candies at Warden Meat & Maple. The Winter Farmers Market takes place 10am - 1pm on the first and third Saturdays of the month at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center. Central Cafe has maple lattes with maple syrup from Wardens Meat & Maple (Barnet, Vermont). Open Tuesday through Friday 8am - 5pm, and Saturday through Sunday 9am- 3pm. Kingdom Crust Co. has year-round pies that feature Vermont maple syrup, like the signature Mista' Mann.
