Valentine's Day is on Wednesday, February 14th, and our annual dining, shopping, and activity guide spans a full week (and more!) of fun in St. Johnsbury, with activities leading up to and beyond the day of the holiday.

Read on for dozens of ways to #findyourlove in St. J, including instructions on how to win some St. J swag to gift your honey.

Activity Guide

Enter The #FindYourLove Challenge! Show us what you love in St. J for a chance to win. Here's how to enter:
  1. Between now and Wednesday 2/14, take a picture of your sweetie, something lovable, or a heart in St. Johnsbury.
  2. Post it to Facebook or Instagram and tag Discover St. Johnsbury. (Note: If your account is private, send us a DM to make sure we see your post!)
  3. On Thursday 2/15, we'll choose three entries to win St. J swag of your choosing (either a free tote bag or one #ilovestj tee).

Downtown Scavenger Hunt. Test your local knowledge with a self-guided scavenger hunt featuring 13 whimsical clues. The hunt takes about an hour to complete, and is a great date night activity! Learn how to enter: www.discoverstjohnsbury.com/scavengerhunt

Black Rabbit Tarot will lead an herbalism workshop Love for the Self and Others at Heartspace Yoga & Healing Collaborative on Thursday 2/8 starting at 5:30pm. Enjoy hot tea and fresh bread while learning about the uses and actions of herbs traditionally known as aphrodisiacs, then craft your own botanical blends to take home. Advance registration required. Good Shepherd Catholic School presents their 23rd Annual Father Daughter dance on Friday 2/9 from 7pm - 9pm. This event is open to the public (not just students of the school) and features door prizes! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Boxcar & Caboose. The Fitness Jungle hosts a Jungle Love Hot Fitness Challenge on Saturday, 2/10 from 11:30am - 2:30pm, featuring Hot Pilates, Hot 26 class, and a Plankathon challenge, followed by snacks. Catamount Film & Arts presents Jake Blount at the ArtPort on Saturday 2/10 at 7pm. Blount's 2020 album "Spider Tales" was named one of the year’s best albums by NPR and The New Yorker, earned a perfect 5-star review from The Guardian, and highlighted the Black and Indigenous histories of popular American folk tunes, as well as revived songs unjustly forgotten in the whitewashing of the canon. Tickets are $20. United Community Church: Celebrate Valentine's Day AND Mardi Gras with delicious desserts and dancing to live music by the Swing North Big Band on Tuesday 2/13 from 7pm - 9pm. Bring you sweetheart, kids, best bud, or dancing partner to enjoy the evening with this special group of musicians in the fellowship hall of the UCC. Admission is by donation with proceeds funding the UCC's kitchen renovation. Details: www.facebook.com/UnitedCommunityChurchUCC

Catamount Film & Arts & Whirligig Brewing host the Poetry Potluck each second Wednesday, which falls on Valentine's Day, Wednesday 2/14 from 7pm-9pm. Poets and poetry lovers are invited to gather to share food and bring poems or prose of their own (or of others) to read. Clay'n Around Pottery Studio hosts a Paint Your Partner night on Valentine's Day, Wednesday 2/14. Paint a portrait of your partner while they paint one of you! Catamount Film & Arts and the Vermont Humanities Council present the Be Mine Ball at the ArtPort on Friday 2/16 from 6pm-11pm. Join host Galen Blodgett and some of Vermont’s best drag performers for a night of fun, entertainment, and dancing. 18+ event. Boule: The bakery is offering a selection of delicious Valentine's Day baked goods like cakes, cookies and cupcakes available for preorder, including gluten free and dairy free options. Make sure to plan ahead! Whirligig Brewing, Wilder Wines & Haven are teaming up for 'Playing House', a decadent and glamorous Valentine's celebration on Saturday, 2/10 starting at 5:30pm. A lounge-style experience, you will enjoy a natural wine selection curated by Wilder Wines, fresh oysters, raclette, tinned fish, and desserts from Whirligig's kitchen, all under the blanket of fantastic music by DJ Community Crossing, K R C, and Brazen, with live video projections by artist Indivisual Video. This is a 21+ event. Food & drink will be available by the item/glass or all-inclusive tickets that will be available for purchase at the door. Kingdom Animal Shelter is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, 2/10 from 5pm - 7pm, at the United Community Church, UCC. The meal includes spaghetti (gluten free available), sauce (meatless or vegetarian), salad, garlic bread, drinks, and dessert. St. Johnsbury Distillery is offering a celebratory dinner at the Distillery Speakeasy on Wednesday 2/14. Stay tuned for the final details, to be announced soon on Facebook: www.facebook.com/stjdistillery​. The Distillery Speakeasy is also open for cocktails and dinner service Wednesday through Saturday, and brunch on Sundays.
