Many of St. Johnsbury's restaurants feature Vermont's favorite ingredient on their menus 365 days a year. But, during the Kingdom Maple Festival's Maple Menu Takeover, we've challenged local eateries to take it up a notch and highlight locally-produced maple syrup from their favorite sugar makers on their menus all weekend long.
Sweet, savory, boozy, or caffeinated, you'll find something for everyone, including THREE locations with maple creemees available the day of the festival.
Restaurants are listed starting on Main Street, then heading 'downhill' on Eastern Avenue to Railroad Street and elsewhere around town. Scroll down for a map showing all participating locations.
St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels hosts their All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast by donation on the day of the festival, Saturday, April 18, at the St. Johnsbury House. The menu features pancake mix and syrup from Maple Grove Farms of Vermont. Click here for the full details. 8am - 10:30am at 1207 Main Street. Javier Bill's Almost Authentic Mexican Food will highlight maple-forward cocktails all weekend. Their Maple Rumchata is made with house-made horchata with St. Johnsbury Distillery's Dunc's Maple Rum, and the Maple Barrens features Malvado Maple Mezcal, citrus, maple syrup, bitters, and cinnamon. Their syrup is from St. Johnsbury's own Goodwin Family Maple. Open Tuesday through Friday, 11:30am - 8pm, Saturdays 3pm - 8pm. 1214 Main Street. Looking for fresh Maple Cinnamon Rolls? The baker that supplies Eastern & Main Market and Deli and Horizon's Deli & Convenience will be serving them up while supplies last. You'll get them at their freshest at Horizon's on Thursday 4/16 and at Eastern & Main on Friday 4/17. Both will also be offering their full-service deli sandwiches at both locations, many featuring maple flavors. Eastern & Main open daily until 8pm, 1194 Main St. Horizons' kitchen is open daily until 9pm, 652 Railroad St. Salt Bistro's Maple Crème Brûlée is expertly made by their in-house pastry chef. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 4pm - 9pm. 94 Eastern Avenue. St. Johnsbury Distillery showcases maple in multiple formats most of the year, but especially during Maple Fest weekend.
Yummies @ The Star will have seasonal flavors of Vermont-made Wilcox Ice Cream (maple walnut and maple fudge) available all weekend along with Maple Creemees, plus specials like BBQ Maple Chicken Wings, Maple Sundaes, and Maple Milkshakes. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 11:30am - 9pm. 17 Eastern Ave. Anthony's Diner has all of the classic diner breakfast items that you can dream of, designed to be slathered in syrup from Maple Grove Farms of Vermont (St. Johnsbury, Vermont). Make sure to save room for their Maple Milkshake and Maple Cream Pie. Open Thursday & Friday from 8am - 8pm, Saturday thru Monday 8am - 3pm. (Closed Tuesdays). 321 Railroad St. Wandering Vine will be open during Maple Fest, serving a special Maple Boba Tea. Open Saturday during Maple Fest, 10am - 3pm. 378 Railroad St. The Buttery Kitchen & Pantry offers weekend brunch with delicious Chicken & Waffles on Saturdays and Sundays, and a special Pancake Breakfast on Saturday during Maple Fest weekend, both topped with Deep Mountain Maple Syrup (West Glover, Vermont). At both brunch & dinner you'll find a Maple Affogato on the menu, with Super Secret Maple Ice Cream and Mother Moon Espresso. Open Mondays 8am - 8pm, Tuesday through Friday 8am - 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 8am - 5pm with brunch until 2:30pm. 379 Railroad St. Boxcar & Caboose makes their Maple Lattes with syrup from local favorite Goodwin Family Maple (St. Johnsbury, Vermont). Open daily: Monday through Saturday 9am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 3pm. 394 Railroad St. Whirligig Restaurant, Brewery & Bar sells a variety of maple products from Chandler Hill Farm (Peacham, Vermont) whose syrup is featured in all of their in-house smoked Maple BBQ sandwiches. During the festival those sandwiches and their Maple Bacon BLT will be on special, and the bar will feature a full Maple Cocktail Takeover. You can also sample a beer brewed in-house, or a have a NA Maple Seltzer made with a generous dose of syrup. Open Monday through Saturday, noon - 8pm. (Closed Sundays). 397 Railroad St. The Kitchen Counter Cafe's soft serve machine is humming all weekend, and they'll be offering Maple Creemees at their new home (now at 397 Railroad Street across the street for their former location). Keep an eye out for specials on homemade Pancakes topped with local syrup from Mooreland Farm (Peacham, Vermont), Maple Milkshakes, and their delicious Maple Bacon Cheeseburger served with fries. Open Thursday thru Tuesday 8am - 3pm (Closed Wednesdays). 397 Railroad St. Boule is offering several special items made with their family's own maple from LaLiberte Family Sugarhouse (165 Maple Ridge Road, West Charleston, Vermont). Get their early to grab an enticing Maple Almond Bun, Maple Pecan Oatmeal Cookie, or a Maple Cupcake. Plus, they can add syrup to any espresso drink you like. Open daily, 7am - 5pm. 462 Railroad St. St. Johnsbury Country Store has a great selection of local maple syrup, produced by Windrift Tree Farm (St. Johnsbury, VT), and will be serving Maple Creemees produced by Kingdom Creamery of Vermont (Hardwick, VT). They will be stocked up on Maple candy from Kirby Mountain Maple (Concord, VT), Maple popcorn and cotton candy from Maple City Candy (Swanton, VT) and Kayla's VT Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce (Concord, VT) . On the day of the festival, the Deli will feature a Maple-Black Pepper BLT and a Maple Pulled Chicken Sandwich, both on house-made maple bread/bun. The deli will also have homemade Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls, and Salted Maple Whoopie Pies. Store hours on Saturday and Sunday are 9am-5pm, weekdays 8am-6pm. The Deli is open 9am - 2pm Tuesday-Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday). 537 Railroad Street. 98 Mill Italian Pub & Grill uses Kirby Mountain Maple Syrup (Kirby, Vermont) on their menu regularly, including in their popular Maple Ginger Wings and Italian Poutine with Maple Demi-Glace and Italian sausage crumbles. Open Thursday 4-8pm, Friday and Saturday noon-9pm, Sunday noon-8pm, and Monday 4-8pm. 98 Mill Street. Locally Social can add real maple from the Goodwin Family Maple (St. Johnsbury, Vermont) to make any beverage a celebration of the season, including their Maple Cold-Brewed Iced Coffee, or add maple to any espresso week.
