St. Johnsbury's historic district is a beautiful place to experience foliage season while visiting Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. On Saturday, September 28, dozens of community partners are coming together to host a new fall festival featuring activities that showcase historic attractions along Main and Summer Streets.

September 28 Event Preview:
Morning TBC - Pancake Breakfast
At the St. Johnsbury House, 1207 Main Street
All-you-can-eat pancake breakfast by donation by St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels. Includes pancakes and maple syrup from Maple Grove Farms of Vermont, sausage, home fries, scrambled eggs, and beverages. Proceeds benefit St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels.
9am until sold out ~ Annual Pie Sale
At the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, 1171 Main Street
Organized by the Friends of the Athenaeum, get there early to claim your pie! Cookbooks will be available for purchase by donation. $15 per homemade pie. All proceeds will be donated to support the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum's programming & materials.
9am - 4pm ~ Historic Gas & Steam Engine Display
at 481 Summer St.
Members of the Vermont Gas & Steam Engine Association will display antique engines and equipment.
10am - 4pm ~ Festival of Traditional Crafts
at St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center, 421 Summer St.
St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center hosts their annual festival including demonstrations of historical crafts and trades from the region. Demonstrations include apple butter & cider making, yarn spinning, spring pole lathe, pump log boring, hand planing, candlemaking, and more. Purchase tickets to enter the raffle to win a handmade 'Lucky Stars' quilt, with the drawing at 3:00pm the day of the festival. Find the details on their website: www.stjhistory.org/events
10am - 3pm ~ Secondhand Prose Sidewalk Sale & Children's Book Giveaway
At Secondhand Prose, 1222 Main Street
Secondhand Prose will host one of their popular sidewalk sales, featuring children's books for FREE. All other book sales are priced by the buyer. Secondhand Prose is operated by the Friends of the Athenaeum and all proceeds will be donated to support the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum's programming & materials.
10am - 3pm ~ Family Fun Fest
At St. Andrews Church, 1265 Main Street
Bring the whole family to St. Andrews Church for a fun day, come rain or shine! Enjoy games (Pumpkin Ring toss, Pumpkin Ball Toss, and Corn Hole), a harvest "Photo Booth" setting for group pictures, "Café St. A" for warm drinks and tasty treats, Heat & Eat take-away dinners, mums for sale, self-guided tours of the building, and even the opportunity to ring our historic church bell! Also, come meet four-footed friends from the wonderful dog rescue organization, FLOD-VT. All activities are by donation, with proceeds supporting storm-related repairs to the historic St. Andrew's building.
11am - 1pm ~ 'Build Your Own' Burger or Dog Luncheon
At United Community Church, UCC, 1325 Main Street
The United Community Church will offer grilled burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings to build your perfect entree, plus brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chips, and beverages. Proceeds benefit the UCC's capital fund.
Self-Guided ~ Historic Main Street Walking Tour
30+ Stops in the Historic District
This tour takes you along St. Johnsbury's historic district in the Main Street area to view more than 30 architecturally significant buildings. We recommend picking up a hard-copy brochure from the History & Heritage Center or the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center, but you can also view the file online here.
