It is tough to own or operate a business, but you’re not alone. There are a lot of great resources in our local community that are here to help address common questions and challenges you might be facing.
To answer some of these FAQ’s, in 2025 Discover St. Johnsbury’s Economic Development Committee is launching a new series of free introductory workshops on a variety of topics to share tangible advice in a bite-size format, and to connect you with resources that will be able to help you go deeper. You’ll leave each workshop with a take-home guide featuring actionable tips and resources on each topic.
These workshops are intended for business owners/operators, nonprofit leaders, or anyone who is curious about starting a business in St. Johnsbury or the surrounding area. Although free, registration is required.

Workshop Topic: How do I get the word out about my business?
Wednesday, February 26, 2025 5:30pm - 7pm
Instructors: Gillian Sewake, Discover St. Johnsbury & Maggie Gray, Haven and The Buttery Kitchen & Pantry
The number of ways to let people know about your business can be overwhelming. It feels like everyone gets information differently these days, and it can be hard to navigate the myriad (sometimes expensive) outlets and tools to connect with new customers. Maggie will provide an introduction on clarifying your brand and presenting yourself on social media (including tips for taking better pictures), and Gillian will provide an overview of the best listing and marketing services to connect with locals and visitors alike, as well as a quick triage tool to help you choose which services are right for your situation.

Not all cash flow issues are negative!
