It is tough to own or operate a business, but you’re not alone. There are a lot of great resources in our local community that are here to help address common questions and challenges you might be facing.
To answer some of these FAQ’s, in 2025 Discover St. Johnsbury’s Economic Development Committee is launching a new series of free introductory workshops on a variety of topics to share tangible advice in a bite-size format, and to connect you with resources that will be able to help you go deeper. You’ll leave each workshop with a take-home guide featuring actionable tips and resources on each topic.
These workshops are intended for business owners/operators, nonprofit leaders, or anyone who is curious about starting a business in St. Johnsbury or the surrounding area. Upcoming workshops are listed below. Although all of these workshops are free, PLEASE REGISTER to confirm your attendance. More workshops will be added periodically.

Workshop Topic: How Do We Find Common Ground and Celebrate Differences?

Instructor: Sha'an Mouliert, DEI Consultant
This workshop uses role methodology and theater techniques to problem solve ways to celebrate differences and explore group dynamics. Participants will have the opportunity to work in a safe space to explore and confront issues of power and oppression, and develop creative solutions to find common ground. These skills are helpful in multiple professional circumstances, including client relations, customer service, and team leadership.

Downtown & Historic Preservation Tax Credits

Discover St. Johnsbury invites property owners and businesses located in St. J's Designated Downtown to attend a Tax Credit Info Session to learn about State & Federal Tax Credits administered by Vermont's Agency of Commerce and Community Development that are available for building improvement projects.
